Description
The obverse has "Executive Experiment, Fiscal Agent, 1837" and tortoise carrying a safe labeled "SUB TREASURY". The reverse depicts a running or leaping jackass with "I Follow in the Steps of My Illustrious Predecessor".

Author's Notes & Comments
"I follow in the steps of my illustrious predecessor", is a quote from Martin Van Buren. The jackass refers to Andrew Jackson. Some people called Jackson, "Jack" for short. Jackson's opponents who did not like him thought him more to be a jackass for his actions to suspend specie payments and so he is depicted that way on many of these satirical tokens.
